Method and limits
Compare question, population, period, measure and evidence. Incompatible claims require explanation once their conditions align. Recency or confidence alone does not decide which is right.
Worked teaching case
A says average commuting is 30 minutes for all employees. B says 20 for cyclists. Both can hold. If both refer to the same cyclists, day and timing rule, inspect data versions.
Judge before reviewing
Independent attempt and revision
A reports 90% passing among completers; B reports 36% among registrants. Of 100 registrants, 40 completed and 36 passed. Reconcile them.
Reference and self-check
36/40=90% and 36/100=36%. Denominators differ; non-completers’ ability is unknown.
AI collaboration and verification
Simulated AI summary: “90% seat occupancy means 90% of residents support longer opening.”
This is a prewritten teaching candidate, not live model output. Judge independently, then check each claim; you may use your own candidate instead.
Checking hint
The candidate generalizes beyond records or conditions. Preserve denominators, assistance or scope from the lesson. Softer wording alone is not verification.
