Understand the judgment process

Five links may rest on one source. Record the underlying report or dataset. Different domains do not establish independent evidence; trace actual dependencies.

Search for boundaries: populations, tasks, time horizons, null findings or methodological limits. Counterevidence is not an opposing opinion added for balance; it is evidence that could materially alter the conclusion.

Check whether apparently conflicting results answer the same question. Better short-term recall and unchanged long-term transfer can coexist. Compare outcomes, populations, methods and periods before declaring a contradiction.

Checks you can perform

Map important claims to their underlying material.
Look for limits and potentially disconfirming findings.
Compare populations and outcomes across disagreements.
Update by relevance and evidence, not a vote of URLs.

Explore the explanation

Identify the shared origin, then compare population, task and method with the other study. Limit the conclusion to its supported setting. No clear improvement in one setting does not establish universal ineffectiveness.

Apply it in a new context

Documentation supports offline editing, but a forum reports offline image recognition failure. Must they conflict?

No. Editing and recognition are different capabilities. Check scope, version, activation and network steps, separating established from unresolved support.

Preserve a revision record

What changed your judgment? What still supports it? When will you review?

Contrary material deserves the same scrutiny; a page about drawbacks is not automatically more objective.

Check whether you supplied inspectable evidence, a feasible next step and revision conditions. Revealing an answer is not mastery.
