Build your first data report
Use fictional library lending records to produce a report that can be recalculated and interpreted.
- Define the question and starting point
Keep from this step: State the comparison, prior knowledge and available time. Explain a mean and a rate independently; use statistics foundations if needed.
- Check denominators and summaries
Keep from this step: Calculate one mean, median and rate by hand and keep the steps.
- Document cleaning
Keep from this step: Keep the raw CSV and explain blanks, repeated rows and the observation unit.
- Create and audit a chart
Keep from this step: Submit a zero-baseline chart table and caption; explain why truncated bars are inappropriate.
- Deliver an independent report
Keep from this step: Use the new library case rather than copying the service-desk example.
- Reader check and revision
Keep from this step: Ask a reader to identify conclusion, evidence and limits; preserve feedback and revisions.
Independent attempt and revision
Data: library A records 2,4,4,6 loans; B records 1,1,2,12, with one missing row in each. Deliver a one-page report with raw data, cleaning log, caption, grouped results and limitations.
Reference and self-check
Recalculate means 4/4 and medians 4/1.5; preserve missingness; distinguish events from people. This is an entry-level artifact, not proof of comprehensive analytical ability.
Practice archive and versions
Save an independent attempt before a revision, up to 50 versions. This archive contains this page’s inputs in this language. Files can be restored to the same page and language; there is no automatic synchronization or backup of other legacy lessons.

Editorial standards · Feedback and correctionsHow do I retain independent judgment when using AI here?
Keep your own answer before consulting an AI candidate. Check sources, calculations, inference and conditions; explain adoption or rejection. Then solve a new-context task independently and apply the checks to this lesson.

Mark statuses manually; visits do not establish mastery. Languages share statuses while lessons keep their own answers. This backup contains statuses only, not answers or notes.
