Repair a misleading chart
Choose a chart, label units and inspect the baseline.

Method and limits
Bars compare categories through length and should start at zero. Lines show ordered time changes; a zoomed scale must be explicit. A bar of group means is not a distribution. Retain a table, counts and source alongside the chart.
Worked teaching case
Class means are 80 and 84. Starting bars at 78 makes lengths two and six, suggesting a threefold difference. The scores differ by four points. A zero baseline restores length ratios; maximum score and sample details still matter.
Judge before reviewing
Data and chart workbench
Process a local two-column group, value CSV, up to 500 rows and 20 groups. Values must use one unit. Blanks stay missing; equal rows may be separate events. Data is not uploaded.
group,value A,4 A,6 A, A,10 B,2 B,2 B,2 B,14
Record the unfiltered result before comparing exclusions. Charts show summaries; inspect the raw CSV for distributions. Means do not represent every experience.
Independent attempt and revision
Use the workbench to compare zero and truncated baselines. Write a title, unit, counts and limitation; explain when a distribution view is needed.
Reference and self-check
For example: “Recorded waiting times by desk (minutes).” Retain valid n and missing counts; inspect individual values to study long waits.
AI collaboration and verification
Simulated AI suggestion: “Fill all missing values with zero; equal means prove equal service quality.”

Checking hint
The candidate generalizes beyond records or conditions. Preserve denominators, assistance or scope from the lesson. Softer wording alone is not verification.
